How to Enjoy Watching TV

Television has completely evolved over the last 50 years to give a greater selection of tv shows than ever! Some providers include some packages that have more than one thousand channels! With so much to watch, finding something fun to watch is harder than ever. Television is a great form of entertainment that you are almost definitely already paying for so why not use it to it's maximum potential. With hundreds and hundreds of channels, finding the best show can be daunting. There are a few simple tips that can help make watching TV much more enjoyable:
- Don't watch a show just because everybody else is watching it. Maybe you should give it a chance but don't force yourself to watch a show you don't like just because everybody else is doing it.
- If you have a friend or relative who is very similar to you in interests, then you are likely to enjoy the same shows. This may seem to contradict the first point, but it doesn't. You should not follow what society says is great just because thats what they say. Friends or relatives who have similar interests and personalities, however, are more likely to enjoy the same TV shows you do.
- Google it! The internet is massive and if there is a topic that interests you, then search for it online along with the words "television show" or something of the like and you will be able to pinpoint exactly what you want. Some DVR's including Tivo also allow you to search for TV show by keywords which works just as well.
- Having a DVR allows you to record shows you like so that you can watch a show whenever you want instead of exactly when it is on. It makes TV go on your time and allows you to skip ads on recorded shows making the process significantly more enjoyable. Many higher end DVR's do come with a hefty price tag though but they are well worth the investment if you really enjoy TV.
- Sometimes you might just not want to watch TV! If you don't want to watch anything on TV then find something else to do. There is always something else to do. Play a musical instrument, browse the internet, read a book, play a videogame, do work, run errands - there is always something you can do. Nothing is worse than trying to watch TV when you simply don't want to.
